Artist's Statement

As an artist and architect, I find joy in capturing the beauty of California’s coastline - a dynamic canvas shaped by timeless tides and structural rugged cliffs.

Now living in Santa Cruz County, I paint the interplay of land and sea, inspired by vistas seen at our State Parks. My impressionistic style features bold palette knife strokes, impasto textures, and broken brushwork, echoing the energy of the turn-of-the-century Impressionists.

I’m driven to translate fleeting moments of natural splendor into paintings that invite viewers to feel connected to the landscape. My work seeks to evoke not just beauty, but a deeper sense of immersion in nature’s vitality. Through vibrant colors and expressive forms, I aim to share the awe of coastal vistas with collectors and art lovers alike.

My Process 

I create artwork in my studio largely from photographic images. I use technology where I can to ease and enhance my process, beginning with uploading an image into Adobe Photoshop, where I can manipulate an image's composition by cropping it, change colors, adjust light and darks and apply filters.  This step flattens the image and helps me to see it in paint.
